- Retailer data: price, availability, rating, and review-count snapshots supplied by a retailer.
- Editorial judgment: fit guidance, provisional scores, ordering, and recommendations produced by IPL.
Source standards
For rules and certification, IPL prefers official governing-body sources. For product specifications, IPL prefers official manufacturer material followed by established retailer listings. When sources disagree, we identify the uncertainty and direct shoppers to verify it before buying.
Testing labels
- Researched: evaluated from documented specifications and source data.
- Hands-on: physically handled or swung by an identified contributor.
- Field-tested: used in a documented on-field or cage protocol.
- Lab-tested: measured using identified equipment and a repeatable protocol.
Current IPL rankings are researched editorial comparisons. They are not labeled field-tested or lab-tested.
Commercial relationships and updates
Affiliate commissions do not determine ranking order, score weights, or editorial conclusions. IPL does not sell ordinary ranking positions. We revisit content when rules change, a model is replaced, price materially affects value, better evidence appears, or a factual error is identified.
